archive 23 GOSLINGS “GRANDEUR OF HAIR” CD
Yeap that’s right catalog number 23.. I suppose the Haino Sitaar Tah! Should have been 21-22 but things were happening fast and I lost track of what the hell I was doing.. Anyway happy hunting for 21 since it doesn’t exist at this point.
GOSLINGS “grandeur of hair” in a lot of ways a release that exceeded any expectations I’ve had for the label. Up until this point the label had mostly focused on live recordings (beyond the Plotkin/ Wyskida release) but this project was more the full visualization of a project as the band had been working on the recordings for some time. In a nutshell a 60’ish min. collection of tracks that feature husband wife duo of Max and Leslie Soren of FL. Practicing the fine art of analog tape annihilation and over saturation. Predominately a wall of fuzzed to hell guitar noise mixed lightly with some drum beats here and there sprinkled with some sweet female vocals. One of the things that always pulled me in is the subtle guitar melodies that are buried beneath the haze. I’ve seen a number of reviews and comments about this release giving it the Sunno))) meets My Bloody Valentine tag, not sure if I fully see that myself but whatever. Single pressing of 1000 pieces. I still have copies on the 1st page of the shop. And you should also be able to find this titles at a number of the distro’s in the link section.

-PACKAGE first project to date that I hired on Alan Sherry of SIWA records to silkscreen 2.5 panel covers on a heavy weight black cardstock. Graphic work from Chris Alpino with guidance from Max and Leslie.

archive 24 BARDO POND “live in Philadelphia” CD
A release that was really inspired from my side by a simple minimal photographic layout. Two years or so after the live content was recorded I was screwing around with photographs I had taken from the live event. At the time I was talking with Michael Gibbons about a different project and I pitched him on this idea. And that was that. Live set was something I would return to listen to from time to time as being on of the more unique Bardo sets that I had seen personally over the past 7 years of seeing them play live in their home town 5-10 times a year. Recorded at a “party/ show” at the apartment of some Espers folks in the city. The set is mostly acoustic due to the fact that show space had neighbors. Maybe a better term would have been volume limiting?? Line-up included Ed on Percussion, Clint on electric bass, John on cumbus (I don’t recall him playing any electric at all, but we did credit him as electric guitars as well), Michael on Electric guitar, and Isobel on vocals, flute, and violin. First trx called Amur is a fairly long loose jam with a very Middle Eastern drone feel to it. Second trx Walking cloud is a much different version then appeared recorded else where. Content wise a really nice little release that is a lot of things I wanted archive to be and do. Offer documentation of unique one off events and to allow more then the 20 people who were present to actual hear the music.

PACKAGE- Up until this point I’ve had what I would think were pretty smooth releases in terms of getting the covers and discs done with out issue. The cover for the release features text free photographs that I took from the actual live show. The first batch of 600 discs that came in from the pressing plant had a disc color that didn’t even come close to the print work. In concept the disc faces were supposed to seamlessly overlay the inner print work by blending with a color match. The only text on the whole release was matte finish on the disc face itself. After getting the first batch of discs in I decided against using them for the release and decided to have them repressed to get a better color match. So as not to totally waste the entire 600 bad color discs, and help with some of the demand and general interest the release was getting we decided to use 125 copies of the bad discs in a 2nd sleeve using different art. The designation for these discs was the PMS721 (the color number for the disc face). 2nd pressing of CD’s later came in, and while they didn’t match either, they were closer in color and I went ahead and used them. This pressing was 600 pieces in the photographic sleeve.
these discs sold very quickly.

archive 25 NARITA MUNEHIRO “ETHER” CD
2 different live solo electric guitar improvisations from NARITA MUNEHIRO, legendary guitar hero from the Japanese pysch underground band HIGH RISE. With Highrise left as an inactive band at this point, Narita has been performing one off gigs with different players and some solo outings in and around Tokyo. This release was to let some of that out into the general public and offer a grittier alternative to the cleaner sounding solo PSF CD. Single pressing of 600 copies recorded once again by my favorite human Phil. With mastering by Plotkin.

-PACKAGE layout was design and formed by myself using a bunch of photographs that my favorite human Phil took from one of the live dates. I used a more analog approach printing the photographs and then treating them with bleach which of course produced the bleeding acid washed effects. These were then re-scanned into the computer and text was added. The Inner background photograph was actually produced using the same blue smoke photo that makes up the blue version of the sunno))) live white CDR back cover. These were the first covers I had made with an extra heavy gloss coat applied to them. All text by Chris Alpino   SOLD OUT
